Our
Story
Get to Know Us
SEIS – Settlement, Employment and Integration Services was established to provide structured, accessible, and professional support to newcomers and vulnerable individuals across Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge. The organization was created in response to the growing need for clear pathways to settlement, employment, and community integration for individuals navigating life in a new environment. SEIS focuses on delivering practical guidance and connecting people to essential services that support stability, independence, and long-term success.
SEIS offers a wide range of services including settlement and integration support, employment assistance such as resume building and job readiness, financial literacy education, mental health advocacy, addictions and harm reduction support through referrals and community connections, housing and homelessness guidance, parent and family literacy, assistance with government forms and applications, workshops and training, and multilingual support in several languages. Through collaboration with community organizations and service providers, SEIS ensures individuals are connected to the right resources and support systems needed to build a strong foundation for their future.
About the Founder
SEIS – Settlement, Employment and Integration Services is led by Hussein Omar, a dedicated Social Service Worker whose commitment to community support and social impact began at a remarkably young age. From the age of 14, Hussein began volunteering with Reception House Waterloo Region, where he supported newly arrived refugees as they began rebuilding their lives in Canada. This early exposure to frontline settlement work shaped his lifelong dedication to helping individuals overcome barriers related to housing, employment, integration, and wellbeing.
Over the years, Hussein has developed extensive professional experience in social services, working directly with newcomers, vulnerable populations, and individuals facing complex challenges such as homelessness, mental health concerns, addictions, and employment barriers. His background in case management, housing support, and community outreach reflects a deep understanding of client needs and system navigation. Known for his calm leadership, strong communication, and trauma-informed approach, he has consistently focused on building trust, restoring stability, and connecting individuals to meaningful support systems.
SEIS was founded as a reflection of this lifelong commitment to service. It represents Hussein’s vision of creating structured, accessible, and dignified pathways for individuals in the Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge region. His journey from a young volunteer to a community leader reflects a consistent dedication to advocacy, compassion, and long-term impact, ensuring that every individual he supports is guided toward opportunity, stability, and independence.
